The transition period when switching feeds should ideally last 10 days. Four or five days are necessary for enzyme adaptation and approximately ten days for microbial adaptation. During this period, you will switch gradually from one feed to the other, in order to achieve a smooth transition.

Horses are unable to vomit or eructate. Water causes the feed to swell, due to its highly absorbent nature, which may induce painful gastric distension.
This is why your horse must have a constant supply of clean water. Horses drink 30 to 40 litres of water per day, under “normal” conditions.
