> Specific programmes
1- Sports horses, during the sports season, hay-free, and on shavings if necessary.
Daily feed ration corresponding to 7 EFU :

7 kg of DP ENERGY + 2.5 kg of DP CHALLENGE
Or 2 kg of DP FLOC CHALLENGE

At the end of the season, and as exercise decreases, maintain the DP ENERGY base and stop supplementation. 



3- Brood mares
Non-lactating or non-gestating brood mares, and brood mares in the first 8 months of gestation have the same requirements as adult horses : 4 EFU and 390 g of EDNM.

During the last 3 months of gestation (9th to 11th month), nutritional requirements increase, reaching : 5.5 EFU and 470 g EDNM. Protein and energy requirements are very high during this period.



A- Feed ration for brood mares at the end of gestation

Forage supplement option :
hay or fresh grass 5.0/20 kg => DP EVOLUTION 3.5 to 4.5 kg or DP FLOC EVOLUTION 3.4 to 4.4 kg

Cereal supplement option :
hay or fresh grass 5.0/20 kg => DP PROTEINE 2.0 kg and cereals 3.4 kg

During the first 3 months after foaling, the mare’s food intake and nutritional requirements practically double : 9 EFU and 800 g EDNM


B- Feed ration for lactating brood mares

Forage supplement option:
hay 5.0 kg DP EVOLUTION 7.5 kg or DP FLOC EVOLUTION 7.4 kg


5- « Flushing » (increasing energy levels)
If the brood mare is in moderate or poor condition, it is advisable to increase the energy content of the feed ration prior to ovulation.
1 month before the envisaged covering date : add 1 kg of DP FLOC CHALLENGE to the usual feed ration per day.



7-  « Quarter Horses »
The feeding programme is based on hay, a high-fibre feed and a supplement with a high fat content:
Hay + HORSE EFFORT + DP ENERGY

Feed rations (for a horse weighing 450 kg) :
1. Maintenance : hay 4.0 kg and DP ENERGY 2.7 kg

2. Working : hay 4.0 kg and DP ENERGY 5.0 kg and HORSE EFFORT 0.1 kg

3. Competition : hay 4.5 kg and DP ENERGY 6.0 kg and HORSE EFFORT 0.2 kg

2- Stallions

Requirements for stallions at stud:

Stallions at stud, according to the extent of servicing: 6.5 to 8 EFU and 500 to 650 g of EDNM minimum.

Protein requirements increase during the servicing period.

For stallions at rest, use the standard feed rations for adult horses. 
 


A- Feed ration for light servicing

Forage supplement option:
hay 5.0 kg => DP EVOLUTION 4.8 kg or DP FLOC EVOLUTION 4.3 kg

Cereal supplement option:
hay 5.0 kg => DP PROTEINE 1.5 kg Cereals 2.8 kg



B- Feed ration for intensive servicing

Forage supplement option:
hay 5.0 kg => DP EVOLUTION 5.7 kg or DP FLOC EVOLUTION 5.2 kg

Cereal supplement option:
hay 5.0 kg => DP PROTEINE 2.0 kg Cereals 3.4 kg


4- Foals

A- Foals from birth

Foals may be given feed as soon as they are born, ideally placed in a creep feeder.

Weaning may begin once the foal is consuming 1 kg of DP EVOLUTION or DP FLOC EVOLUTION per day.


B- Unweaned foals

If the foal is not weaned before 6 months, the brood mare’s nutritional requirements between 3 and 6 months will be 6.5 to 7 EFU according to condition.

The foal must be given 1 to 2 kg of DP EVOLUTION or DP FLOC EVOLUTION per day.


C- Feed ration for foals weaned between 3 and 6 months

Nutritional requirements, with freely available forage
=> at 3 months : 4,5 EFU
=> at 6 months : 5,0 EFU

Feed rations : 1 to 2.5 kg of DP EVOLUTION or DP FLOC EVOLUTION


D- Feed ration for foals weaned after 6 months

Nutritional requirements, with freely available forage
=> at 6 months : 5,0 EFU and 650 g EDNM
=> at 9 months : 5,5 EFU and 550 g EDNM
=> between 12 and 24 months : 6,0 EFU and 450 g EDNM

Forage supplement option: freely available hay and DP EVOLUTION 2.7 kg or DP FLOC EVOLUTION 2.8 kg

Cereal supplement option: freely available hay, DP PROTEINE 1.5 kg and cereals 2.2 kg


6- Trekking and endurance riding

Three periods may be defined in which the feeding programme may vary during the season.
The feeding programme is based on hay and a forage supplement feed with DP CHALLENGE or DP FLOC CHALLENGE


Feed rations : (Forage supplement option)

A- Off-season feed ration :

hay 5.0 kg and DP CHALLENGE 2.6 kg or DP FLOC CHALLENGE 2.4 kg

B- Training and pre-competition feed ration :

hay 5.0 kg and Purinathlète 0.5 kg
Under 40 km : DP CHALLENGE 2.6 kg or DP FLOC CHALLENGE 2.4 kg
Over 40 km : DP CHALLENGE 3.3 kg or DP FLOC CHALLENGE 2.8 kg

C- Competition feed ration :

hay 5.0 kg Purinathlète 1.0 kg
Under 40 km : DP CHALLENGE 3.3 kg or DP FLOC CHALLENGE 2.8 kg
Over 40 km : DP CHALLENGE 3.9 kg or DP FLOC CHALLENGE 3.2 kg 



A few practical tips : 
1. Add 1 kg of DP FLOC CHALLENGE to the evening feed prior to the trial

2. During the trial, after the first 40 km and every 20 km, add 1 kg of DP FLOC CHALLENGE, and add HORSE HYDRAT to drinking water.

3. After exertion, use HORSE HYDRAT and HORSE MICROFLORE to enhance recovery.
